My dad was always telling me how bad things were in his day when I was a kid. He had to walk to school in the show, uphill both ways, with bailing wire for shoestrings and so on. I’ve actually got it pretty easy and the worst thing I can think of to tell my son about how bad I had it when I was a kid was that we had to use ice trays. No stinkin’ door dispenser, things were rough.

VW has unveiled its first ever 2-wheel design at the Auto China 2010 show. The electric bicycle sans pedals is dubbed the bik.e and is powered by batteries. Is it just me, or does this thing look like the design was based on the Kool-Aid man’s smile?

It’s been a few months since we’ve brought up the Samsung NX10, but now that it’s back, apparently Samsung wanted to make sure that it caught all the passer-by’s eyes. Because how many simple, boring, one color cameras can you have, right? It’s always better to give your customers a little bit of choice. Even if it is just for a limited time. For example, this white and black version of Samsung’s mirrorless APS camera.

Vodafone unveil its new ultra low cost handset (ULCH) phone called Vodafone 247. Offer only basic phone function, Vodafone 247 pack a feature which will make environmentalist happy. The phone pack a solar panel on its back, ready to recharge its batery anytime the sun is in the sky. This one will be a perfect companion for camping, but hey who need a cellphone on a camping trip anyway..

We’ve seen pico-projectors with integrated low-power PCs before, but Chinavision’s CVOB-E72 goes one step further.  As well as a VGA resolution projector, you also get a Linux-based OS with WiFi b/g, a battery apparently good for up to 2hrs runtime, and a wireless remote control with a full QWERTY keyboard.

BenQ have outed their latest digital camera, the point-and-shoot DC T1260, and as well as offering a 12-megapixel CCD, wide-angle 4x optical zoom and the company’s HDR image enhancement technology – which combines multiple frames to work around high contrast images having reduced visibility – there’s also a touchscreen for easier control.  The T1260 follows hot on the heels of the DC E1260, spotted earlier this week, which has the HDR system but lacks the 3-inch touchscreen.

While Toshiba crammed Atom N455 processor to its Toshiba NB305 netbook and Lenovo to its IdeaPad S10-3 , HP start its Atom N455 lineup with its HP Mini 210 netbook, upgraded from Atom N450. The Atom N455 version of HP Mini 210 is available in Germany with a 349 euros price tag.

You can be sure that the irony of Skyfire launching their Skyfire 2.0 Flash-happy browser for Android within hours of Steve Jobs taking Adobe to task over Flash being unsuitable for mobile devices will be well noted, but don’t let that distract you from just what’s on offer here.  The big news is the new “SkyBar”, which throws in automatic Flash video streaming for otherwise broken video links, together with social networking integration.

After Nokia demonstrated the sort of photos its new 12-megapixel N8 smartphone could produce yesterday, they’ve followed up with a new demo that puts the 720p HD camcorder functionality to the test.  The results are certainly better quality than you’d expect from most cellphones.

If you’re curious as to how companies all over the world are forging ahead in the endeavor to save our environment, here’s something to take note of. The Portuguese carrier TMN has decided to utilize one eco-friendly device with their latest plan: paper SIM cards. A small detail in some people’s eyes, but as the company points out, the SIM card (along with the card you punch it out of, and subsequently discard) is manufactured from petroleum-based plastics, and therefore something to consider.

 There are plenty of good looking hybrid concepts out there, but Igor Chak’s 2012 Izh Hybrid Motorcycle also tries to slip in some smartphone integration too.  Chak envisages the bike – which would pair a traditional 140HP V-Twin gas engine with a 60kw electric motor in the rear hub – hitting 80mpg, but also having radar distance control, proximity sensors for blind-spots, and a massive 3D touchscreen LCD.  It’s there that we start to get a little worried.

That LCD is packed full of tech, including WiFi, 4G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS (ambitious stuff, but which should all be pretty widely available by 2012) and can be hooked up with your Android, iPhone, Symbian or other smartphone for remote use.  Chak reckons it’ll also show augmented reality views of what’s ahead of you, overlaying graphics onto a live feed from a front-facing video camera.

  Windows Mobile always felt like a business smartphone platform with – later on, at least – consumer-focused extras bolted on.  When Microsoft announced Windows Phone 7 earlier this year, however, the new smartphone OS felt like a consumer platform with a few vague nods to business use.  Now, thanks to the latest WP7 emulator build, we’ve got a better idea of how Office Hub functionality will work on the upcoming handsets.

  Sony are slowly ramping up for 3D gaming on the PS3, but until now we haven’t know exactly how titles will be prepared for the stereoscopic experience.  Digital Foundry have been talking to the Sony team responsible for the system, and unsurprisingly it’s all pretty complex.  Existing 2D titles – such as Wipeout – are either being retrofitted for 3D by basically halving the current visual content (in Wipeout’s case, going roughly from 2D 1080p 60fps to 3D 720p 30fps) or by artificially adding in depth data using the same system as Sony Pictures do for some of their 3D feature films.

  Dell Aero which was appear last month is expected to be available sometime in Q2 via AT&T. Runs on Android 1.5 OS, Dell Aero packs a 3.5-inch capatitive touchscreen display which support multitouch feature. Aero is powered by a 624MHz Marvell processor which is too slow compared to other Android phones.

  Philips unveil its dual SIM slider phone from its Xenium phone series called the Philips Xenium X510.Xenium X510 support dual band GSM (900/1800 MHz) network amd packs a 3.1-inch QVGA touchscreen display, handwriting recognition support, 2 megapixel camera, Vluetooth and a MicroSD card slot.

 Origin is one of the newest boutique makers of gaming PCs on the market. The company has announced that it will be the first maker to offer the new Asus Rampage III Extreme motherboard in gaming rigs.

  Six entry level phone are introduced by Motorola, they ‘re called WX181, WX161, WX260, WX265, WX290 and WX295. WX265 and WX295 are clamshell phone while the other phones comes in candybar design.WX161 and WX181 sport FM radio and built-in light torch.

  Acer Aspire One 521 netbook is launched. Arrive with a 10.1-inch display, Aspire One 521 packs a 1.2GHz AMD V105 single core processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 graphics as well as UVD2 HD video decoder. Its features including a HDMI port and Bluetooth 3.0. Its battery can support operation for up to 7 hours.

Still no announcement on its price and availability.

  Sanyo has been in the projector business for a while and makes a number of cameras and other devices. The latest projectors from Sanyo have been unveiled and both projectors can be had with optional power zoom lenses.

 HP have announced new updates to their TouchSmart all-in-one touchscreen desktop range, together with a new ultra-slim desktop PC.  The HP All-In-One 200 is a new 21.5-inch Full HD desktop, complete with a Pentium E5400 2.7GHz processor, 4GB of RAM and Intel GMA X4500HD graphics, WiFi b/g/n and gigabit ethernet.

 

  It may look a little like Project Natal, but this lengthy webcam is actually Panasonic’s Skype camera for their latest HDTVs.  The Panasonic TY-CC10W is intended to use with select Viera models, bringing 720p HD video and active noise cancellation audio to the sets for straightforward video conversations.

If you’re looking for a feature phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, you’ll be glad to know that Verizon Wireless has officially announced the Samsung Reality (SCH-U820). The device will be available starting April 22nd from Verizon Wireless for $79.99. That’s after a $50 mail-in rebate, bundled with the customary 2-year contract.

Panasonic have announced pricing for their recently-launched LUMIX G2 and G10 digital cameras.  Revealed last month, we now know that the LUMIX G2 – available in red, blue and black – will come in at $799.95, while the LUMIX G10 – in black only – will land at $599.95.
